Co-op now offers Marathon water heaters for sale

Valley Rural Electric Cooperative is making available to members Rheem® Marathon® electric storage tank water heaters for purchase at cost. These highly efficient units are a great fit for the co-op’s demand response program because power can be shut off to them during load control periods with minimal heat loss.

Valley REC awards 25 $1,000 scholarships to local students for 2015

Valley Rural Electric Cooperative recently awarded 25 $1,000 scholarships for the 2015-16 academic year to high school seniors as well as students already enrolled in post-secondary institutions.

The co-op’s Brighter Future Scholarship Program was established in 2010 to assist eligible students who are cooperative members or their dependents. Selection criteria include academic achievement, financial need and school activities and community service.

Fourth annual golf tournament is June 11

Golf clubs in a golf bag on a golf courseFor the fourth year in a row, Valley Rural Electric Cooperative will host a benefit golf tournament. This year’s event will be held Thursday, June 11 at the American Legion Country Club, 1 Country Club Road, Mount Union, PA. The outing will benefit teenagers Destiny Devlin and Wade Stains.

Valley recognized as keystone of the community

Valley REC received the 2015 Keystone Award at the Huntingdon County Business and Industry Annual Meeting and Awards Gala May 5. Sponsored by Keller Engineers, Inc., the award is presented to a business that has been successfully operating in Huntingdon County for 20 or more years and has proven to be a keystone of the county. The business must have impacted the community through employment, outreach and service while doing business within the county.

Reporting outages via SmartHub now active

Valley REC members who are using SmartHub® can now report outages with SmartHub's web-based interface or the SmartHub app on their mobile devices.

Instructions (in both printed PDF and video formats) for using SmartHub to report an outage or service problem are available at the links below.

Valley REC members elect three directors during annual meeting

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The 477 voting members in attendance at Valley Rural Electric Cooperative’s annual meeting Friday, April 10 cast ballots to fill three seats on the nine-person board of directors that represents the utility’s nearly 22,000 consumers.
