April 16, 2020

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and the state-wide school closures, we have modified some of the procedures for our scholarship process for this year.

  • We extended the deadline for applications to April 22, 2020. All application materials must be postmarked no later than that date or dropped off at one of our offices by that date. Due to the stay-at-home order, we will also accept applications emailed to us by April 22 (from the student, the student’s family, or the student's school).
  • If a school is not able to furnish an official transcript in a sealed envelope either to us or to the student, we will accept an emailed copy of the transcript from a school employee or a transcript service.
  • If SAT and/or ACT scores are usually included on a student's transcript, the student does not need to send a separate copy of those scores.
  • If a student took any courses at a college or university, and those courses are included on the high school transcript, the student does not need to provide any transcripts from those colleges or universities. Post-secondary transcripts are required only for coursework not included on a high school transcript.

Copies of our scholarship applications (as PDF documents) are available on our Scholarships page.

If a student or school chooses to email scholarship materials to us, please use the email address jbookwalter@valleyrec.com and mention Brighter Future Scholarship in the subject line. Please direct any questions to the same e-mail address.
